Support Group Organization

More than 10 national autism leadership organizations have come together to form AutismCares, a nationwide disaster relief effort that will potentially assist thousands of Katrina families living with autism. To address the most immediate needs, ”AutismCares – Katrina” is coordinating support for the unique needs of families affected by autism through facilitating temporary / permanent relocation support, mobilizing specialty assistance teams and providing autism-conscious supplies directly to these families and the professionals caring for them.

The Division of Adult Mental Health Services oversees the Statewide provision of community-based mental health services for adults. The Division�s focus is on the development and implementation of services to persons with serious and persistent mental illnesses, with an emphasis on those services which promote recovery and rehabilitation.

We are a group of parents and professionals who meet on a monthly basis for continued support and socialization as well as continued education to benefit our children and families affected by an autism spectrum disorder.

To promote and advocate for the general welfare of persons with autism. To develop a better understanding of the problems of persons with autism by the public in Hancock County. To further the education and training of parents and professional personnel for training, education and caring for persons with autism. To promote the establishment of adequate diagnostic, therapeutic, educational and recreational facilities for persons with autism. To solicit and receive funds for the accomplishment of the above purpose.

ASWV is dedicated to increasing public awareness about autism and the day-to-day issues faced by individuals with autism, their families and the professionals with whom they interact. The Society's mission is to provide information and education, support research and advocate for programs and services for the autism population.

Welcome to JAN, a free consulting service designed to increase the employability of people with disabilities by: 1) providing individualized work site accommodations solutions, 2) providing technical assistance regarding the ADA and other disability related legislation, and 3) educating callers about self-employment options.

The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is an international toll-free consulting service that provides information about job accommodations and the employability of people with disabilities. JAN also provides information regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other relevant disability/employment legislation. JAN also has a Small Business Self Employment Services (SBSES), which can give people with disabilities information about starting their own business.

The John Merck Child and Adolescent Outpatient Program is a program designed to meet the unique mental health needs of children and adolescents with developmental disabilities (mental retardation, cerebral palsy, learning disabilities, sensorineural, brain injury, or other illnesses involving the central nervous system coupled with emotional and/or behavioral disturbances. The clinic specializes in the evaluation and treatment of children with autism and other pervasive developmental disorders.

Our programming is exceptional! We will be offering art, dance, drama, and music programs Tuesday through Friday. Classes are limited to 5 children per class. Siblings are welcome to enroll. Registration is required. Fall session dates are October 18th through December 1st; winter session dates January 17th though February 24th; and spring session March 20th through April 28th. Summer brings the Adventure Club. Super Saturdays are jam packed with activities. The Avampato Discovery Museum will visit bringing their portable Planetarium for grades 3rd and up and a read aloud for Pre-K to 2ND grade scene followed by a craft or science experiment. Our Artful Musical Saturdays are mini workshops that are fun for the whole family. A sibling support group mets the first Thursday each month at 5;30. Dinner/chat/social time for ages 9 and older. Parent-to-Parent is group support for parents. Starting in September, six groups will meet once a month. Mom�s every third Tuesday at 10am and at 7 pm; Dad�s Discussion Group every Fourth Tuesday at 7 pm; a parents group the second Thursday at 7pm. There is no need to make a reservation, just come! Parent-to-Parent workshops, lectures, and seminars will be offered through out the year. Topics range from Autism 101; Yoga, Diet, and Stress Management; and Estate Planning for Special Needs Children. The activities and events at Joseph�s Tree House are broken into three age groups and are family centered, requiring a parent be present at all times. The Tree House Gang is geared for Preschool through Kindergarten; The Tree House Club for 1st through 5th grade; and The Club House is 6th grade and older. Some activities and events occur on-site as well as off-site.

JTH is a support center offering numerous specialized support groups for Mom's, relatives, siblings, gf/cf and specialized dietary needs, to name a few. We offer family centered recreational activies through out the year including a summer day camp program, Preschool playgroup, and social skills program. Monthy speakers and workshops are offered including a spring mini conference. JTH is a 501 3c organization.
