Western PA Psych Care (WPPC) would like to announce the addition of Specialized Autism Services to its Behavioral Health Rehabilitation Services. The Autism Services will be under the clinical direction of Heather Morrow MA. These services will be grounded in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) methodology and include such therapies as Discrete Trial Intervention (DTI), Applied Verbal Behavior (AVB), and Relational Development Interventions (RDI) and social skill training depending on the level of developmental intervention needed. Additionally WPPC will be offering a social support group to children aged 12-16yrs with Asperger’s Syndrome or High Functioning Autism beginning in September. It will be held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 6pm-7:30pm.

The Child Development Unit (CDU) promotes a family-centered approach to health care in which families participate actively in the assessment and interventions. The Child Development Unit is made up of a team of professionals who specialize in assessing a child’s developmental, behavioral and emotional needs. The staff includes developmental/behavioral pediatricians and psychologists who collaborate to provide a comprehensive assessment tailored to the specific needs of children and families.

The Autism Center serves young children who have or are suspected of having an autism spectrum disorder or related disorders. The center is a component of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh’s Child Development Unit. Services available through the Autism Center and the Child Development Unit include: * Behavior consultations * Diagnostic evaluations * Family support/parent training * Resources and information * Referral coordination
