Assistance with individuals who are on the Home and Community Based Waiver who want to do self-determination. This enables individuals with autism to live the life they dream about while not being at the mercy of an agency or service provider. They hire their own staff and pay them at the wages the individual deserves. They can supplement their lives within their families or while in a group home with activities and programs within the community. Individuals who are self-determined are in control!

Providing broker services for those with autism who receive Medicaid Home and Community Based Waiver. This program will enable a person and his family to have more control over their lives. It is a self-determination and self-advocacy model.

The New York State Commission on Quality of Care and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities (CQCAPD) is an independent, New York State government agency charged with improving the quality of life for New Yorkers with disabilities and protecting their rights by: -promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of community life; -ensuring programmatic and fiscal accountability in the State's mental hygiene system; -providing individual and systemic investigative and advocacy services; -advancing the availability and use of assistive technology for persons with disabilities; and, -offering impartial and informed advice, training and recommendations on disability issues.

LDA State Office

The Livingston County Youth Bureau was established in 1978 and is a department of County government. New York State's Office of Children and Family Services funds are channeled through the Youth Bureau to programs and services for youth under the age of 21 in the county. The State aid distributed by the Bureau to municipal and non-profit agencies provides both recreational and delinquency prevention services to county youth and promotes positive youth development.

Governmental/ state agency; The New York State Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (DDPC), in partnership with individuals with developmental disabilities, their families and communities, provides leadership by promoting policies, plans, and practices that: affirm dignity, value and worth; support full participation in society; uphold equality and self-determination; and promote access to research and information needed for informed decision-making for all individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

The Commission on Quality of Care for the Mentally Disabled serves people with mental disabilities and their families by providing independent oversight of the quality and cost-effectiveness of services provided by all mental hygiene programs in New York State. It administers five federal formula grant programs through which it provides legal and non-legal advocacy services to persons with disabilities to assist them in obtaining the services and protections of federal and state laws.

The Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities mission is: To develop a comprehensive, integrated system of services which has as its primary purposes the promotion and attainment of independence, inclusion, individuality and productivity for persons with mental retardation and developmental disabilities; To serve the full range of needs of persons with mental retardation and developmental disabilities by expanding the number and types of community based services and developing new methods of service delivery; and To improve the equity, effectiveness and efficiency of services for persons with mental retardation and developmental disabilities by serving persons in the community as well as those in developmental centers, and by establishing accountability for carrying out the policies of the state with regard to such persons; and To develop programs to further the prevention and early detection of mental retardation and developmental disabilities.
