The Brain Treatment Center (BTC) is a comprehensive service organization that consists of groups of leading psychiatrists, neuroscientists, and electric engineers. We are dedicated to advancing the understanding of neural function and neurophysiology by embracing innovative new technology in the diagnosis and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders (including Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder, Substance Abuse, and Mood Disorders).
Our mission is to provide:
1) Information and counseling to patients and family members.
2) Evaluation and analysis using state of the art electroencephalography (EEG).
3) Evidence-based treatment using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
At our Newport Beach center and surrounding clinics, we provide information for families and health care providers, as well as patients suffering from neuropsychiatric disorders. We also provide state-of-the-art quantitative EEG recording and analysis. Finally, we provide treatment of mental disorders using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Although we welcome those with any mental disorder for analysis, consultation, and treatment, our primary focus includes: Autism, Substance Abuse, and Anxiety.
Symptoms of mental disorders vary in form and severity, and can be devastating to the individual and family. Due to the diversity and unknown etiology of most illnesses, no treatment has been found to be 100% effective. Medication may help relieve symptoms, but often come with severe side effects that can make the treatment intolerable. Anxiety, Autism, substance abuse, and other mental disorders can be difficult to live with, and treatment can be an area where patients often suffer great discomfort and become reliant on medication.
There may be an alternative.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) has been shown in published studies to be effective in treating a number of mental disorders (See our Research section on our website). TMS consists of repetitive magnetic pulses delivered to the brain using a coil of wire placed above the patient’s scalp. TMS is used to activate neurons in areas of the brain that are shown to have low functional activity for patients with the disorder.
At the BTC, we advocate the use of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for a wide array of disorders.
