Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center (PPTRC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that provides therapeutic horseback riding for people with disabilities to encourage independence and improve their quality of life. It is the oldest, largest, and the only “premier accredited†therapeutic riding center in southern Colorado.
Originally called Acts 19:11 because of the “miracles†of therapeutic riding, PPTRC began in 1981 after several families requested horseback riding for their children with disabilities. Since becoming incorporated in 1982, we have been providing equine-assisted therapy to children and adults facing physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral and learning challenges. Some of these challenges often are the result of, but not limited to cerebral palsy, developmental delays, Autism, blindness, head injuries, Down syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and muscular dystrophy.
We are currently located in the northeast corner of El Paso County at the Latigo Heritage Centre. Our primary focus is assisting people in the greater Colorado Springs area with disabilities.
PPTRC is a premier accredited center of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA), the national governing board for all therapeutic riding in the U.S. All our instructors are NARHA certified and we currently have four NARHA instructors at the advanced level of certification.
