We are the Parents of CHILDREN with Autism. We are a support group started in March of 2002 by three mothers who wanted to reach out to other parents. Our goal was to create a way for parents to meet, and exchange information. Our biggest resources have been other families. Parents that have been through this before us, and may know a better road to take. Or, who are walking that path with us now. We firmly believe that we are our children's best teacher, advocate, and decision maker. No one knows a child better than a parent. No one else is going to do our research for us. Our children are a blessing and a gift, and it is our responsibility to do the best we can for them.
The Parents of Children with Autism support group holds monthly meetings on the last Saturday of every month. We are based in Mesquite, Texas. We sponsor speakers on different subjects important to families with a child that has special needs. We also, sponsor special activities for the children, and some for the whole family to enjoy.
Our goals are to raise awareness of the increasing numbers of autism, advocate for our children, make parents aware of the updates on the latest research, and support and friendship from other parents. Our main reason for being is to get the parents answers to their questions, and information to help them make informed choices for their children, and to make a difference in our children’s lives.
